The Shivalaya Homestay

The place is located in Old Kasol, have that perfect view one cannot even expect to have seen in their entire life but welcoming the guests is the most important thing one must strive to achieve when hosting a homestay at a place like Himachal Pradesh, as it is called the Deva Bhoomi. We were welcomed with the stale chapatis, just after arriving at the place I ordered food as nobody was in the state to go to market and have the dinner. They gave shahi paneer which was not at all good in taste and then comes the chapatis, in which we were given a stale chapati along with the other fresh chapatis. They are costing 25 rupees for a chapati and then giving stale food to the guests. However, I told them about the same but my family members did not even touched the food after that. Next day I asked for 3 glasses, in return they provided weird looking glasses with a quite foul smell. I asked them to give the steel ones, they also had the same foul smell. Then I asked for disposables after complaining about the smell, and the next day during check out I saw they charged 10/- per disposable, which should not have been there as there glasses were smelly and due to the same I had to ask for the disposables which I could have gotten from the market only if I knew about such an unhygienic place I am staying in. The experience was such a bad one that I would never suggest anyone to stay at Shivalaya till the time one only wants to live in the room and not ask for anything to eat from there or use their things like dustbin, blankets etc. As everything was smelly and dirty. Only the view of which I provided the pictures too was breath taking, everything else could only suffocate your breathe. Such an awful experience for my masi who visited Himachal for the very first time. Thanks to Shivalaya, they ruined it for her.

budget rooms with heater. service is horrible as they don't care about the needs of the customer. The property is inaccessible by vehicle and have to walk uphill to reach the property. The view from the rooftop is excellent and nearby to the town. room and blankets were dusty and had an uncomfortable sleep.

i had a smooth experience. quick check-in, responsive staff, hot water was available, and basically everything was good. i loved the 3rd floor cafe the most. it was an amazing place to hang out in the morning and at night. it had speakers, jenga, carrom, etc.
