Yogis Guest House

The place was good and very close to the Mehrangarh fort, ghanta ghar (clock tower) and toorji ka jhalra (stepwell).Few complains: 1. There was issue with the geyser and water supply of our room. Firstly we didn't get hot water due to some geyser malfunction and when the caretaker fixed it, the water pressure was very slow and couldn't enjoy a good bath before our tour.2. There was construction activity being undertaken right outside this guest house for some roadwork and it blocked both the alleys that lead to the hotel. When we had call the caretaker/ owner before booking the hotel for asking about the accomodation, she should have notified us about the situation and we would have avoided booking this hotel altogether. We had to stain our shoes with cement while checking out of the hotel which was not a good end to our trip.3. Chef lied to us. It's not that big of a deal but the chef preparing food on the rooftop restaurant of this guest house served us tea made of tea powder. We asked him to be sure if it was freshly brewed or made out of powder, and he confirmed it was freshly made, but once we took the first sip we understood it was made out of powder. We paid INR 160 for two cups of powder made tea. Not a good experience.4. If you come via rickshaw, it will only drop you till Manek Chowk, since the alleys up ahead are a bit narrow to drive. It's a 150-200 metre walk from Manek Chowk to this guest house, which can be a lot if you have heavy luggage.5. There was a TV in the room but no cable connection. (I'm not sure if our pack included access to the TV but what's the point of having an unusable TV in the room).Good points:1. The host/ caretakers, Shruti and Kishore were very warmhearted people and both are very polite and softspoken which are ideal qualities of a host.2. Kishore helped us with our luggage both during checkin and checkout, it stood out because we checked in really late and he woke out of sleep to help us. Thanks Kishore, if you're reading this.3. We didn't get as much time to interact with both of them, but whatever time we did get, they spoke to us nicely. Shruti even advised us on the places to cover as we were short on time.4. Since we checked in late at night, we woke up late and also because of the hot water issue, we required some more time to check out. However, the hosts did not rush to get us to check out and gave us the required space and privacy.5. The property had a really rustic vibe (in a really good way). I wish I had more time to stay in Jodhpur just so I could stay here for a few more days.6. The rooms are cozy, decently spacious, good beds, dim lights (can be a pro or a con, depending on your preferences), a balcony that gives half a view of the Mehrangarh (half, since there are also taller buildings that obstruct some of the view). The terrace restaurant gives an unobstructed view though, its surreal.7. The host was kind enough yo ket us keep our luggage with them (in the common area while we roam around in the city). We collected our baggage in the evening after touring the city.

Review:We booked 3 deluxe rooms for a group of 6. All the rooms were decorated differently, each had it's own vibe. But one thing that remained constant was neat and clean washrooms.Mr.Kishore at the reception is very humble and welcoming, he will surely help you will the itinerary if you ask but don't ask where the water cooler is because there is still shortage of water in jodhpur and you just can't refill your bottles out of water cooler in Yogi's. There were no bottles provided with the room as well.Rest all was upto the mark and the Sardar market, toorji ka jhalra, pachetia hill, Mehrangarh fort are just all under a 600m walk.Autos are also available from Makan chowk nearby, just a 50-100 m walk from the hotel.If you have read it till here and booking a deluxe room, ask for the one on the third floor as it is the best decorated one, minus the balcony though, but the terrace just above would compensate for it.

Very good stay if you are looking to stay in Old city of Jodhpur(which is actual blue city). 1. Very near to all the major attractions(Mehrangarh fort, jaswand thada, clock tower), Market 2. Rooms are clean, very well maintained and have view of Mehrangarh fort( to the one we stayed in) but you can anytime get the view from rooftop. washroom was clean and big with geyser. 3 No need to take separate Blue city heritage tour because you will be staying in one of those house only. This property is 450 years old. 4 They also have rooftop restaurant called Blueberry's with amazing food. Chef and staff was very good. We tried Indian, Italian and chinese food everything was good. 5. Owner is very good and helpful you can call her for any information related to the city, rikshaw fares and she is ready to help with anything. Overall very good stay.

The owner knows nothing about customer experience nor she cares. would never recommend anyone to stay here unless you are okay with dirty or rather filthy location., there's open drainage everywhere, dog and birds poop everywhere, we were unlucky that it rained for a couple hours and the entire area was clogged with drainage water and filth. you will get ancient/vintage vibes as there is too much of vintage decor but thats about it. Vehicles cant enter the lane so you have to get down about 800 M ahead and carry things yourself , and there's no lift, stairs are too steep . you cant open the window as you will be faced with pigeon poop and the smell. Overall the worst experience of mine. if you dont care about any of the above, this place is for you.
