Silchar is a year-round city. Summers and winters are very moderate. However, you can visit especially in April for Bihu (harvest festival) or in October for Navratri festival. It is recommended to book hotel in Silchar early as this is the peak season.

Maniharan Tunnel, Bhubaneswar Temple, Lake Dolu, Kachari Fort, Bhairab Bari, Gandhibagh Park, ISKCON, Children’s Park are some known sightseeing places in the city. Nearby Khaspur has old ruins that date back to the time of Cachari kings.

Transportation
The city is efficiently connected to other cities via air, rail and road. Air connectivity of Silchar Airport (IXS) via regular flights to cities such as Delhi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Agartala and Kolkata is time-efficient. Guwahati and Kolkata are connected to the city with direct flights from airlines such as IndiGo and SpiceJet. Cheap flight tickets from here to other popular cities can be booked online on Goibibo. It is fairly easy to get to the main city from the airport by taxi. Silchar and Guwahati enjoy direct connectivity through road and rail. You can now easily reach Silchar railway station through long-distance trains from cities of India and through inter-state buses from neighbouring states such as Guwahati, Imphal, Shillong, Dimapur, Agartala and Aizawl.
