About Akasa Air

SNV Aviation Private Limited owns Akasa Air, an airline brand that aims to bring low-cost airfares to Indian travellers. The company will be headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and will begin operations on August 7, 2022. In the last week of July 2022, they received their first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Vinay Dube is the CEO of the company, which aims to double its fleet size by the end of 2022 and to become the most popular medium to low-cost airline in the country. Initially, the airline will serve tier 2 and tier 3 cities from metro cities, as well as offer air travel to other major cities across the country.

Akasa Air Operation

Akasa Air – Fleet Size

Because the airline is still in its early stages, it will begin operations with two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and will gradually expand its fleet. They intend to add at least 18 aircraft to their fleet by the end of 2022, with a goal of having 72 ultra-modern, brand-new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft powered by the highly fuel-efficient CFM LEAP-1B engine in their fleet within the next five years.

According to the airline, the 737 MAX family of aircrafts are designed to offer low seat mile costs due to their low operational costs, which are backed by high reliability, superior performance, and enhanced passenger experience. When compared to other aircraft, low maintenance aircraft produce up to 50% less noise. Every Boeing 737 MAX family plane has modern interiors with LED lighting, sculpted sidewalls, and comfortable seats to improve the overall cabin experience.

Akasa Airlines also takes pride in bringing to the competition the country's greenest and youngest fleet, with 50% less noise and 20% less fuel emissions, making it one of the most environmentally friendly air carriers.

Akasa Airline – Baggage Allowance Policy

Akasa has defined their baggage allowance policy in detail to assist customers in planning their luggage in advance based on the limitations and avoiding last-minute hassle. The following are some considerations for Akasa Airlines' baggage allowance policy.

  • Passengers are permitted to carry up to 7kg of hand luggage.
  • The check-in baggage allowance for Akasa air travellers is capped at 15kg per passenger; additionally, the 15kg limit applies to only one piece of luggage.
  • Passengers are permitted to book additional baggage for their travel needs, which is charged at 900 INR per piece of baggage and can be easily pre-booked online.
  • Passengers who purchased tickets in the marine, defence, or student categories are permitted to bring two pieces of check-in luggage.
  • For domestic flights, check-in baggage will be charged Rs.900 for each additional bag when booked online; however, passengers will be charged Rs.1000 when making an extra baggage request at the airport. Excess baggage allowance is charged in addition to the extra bag, as shown in the table below.
    Pre-purchase Domestic Excess BaggageAmount
    3 kgs₹ 1,350
    5 kgs₹ 2,250
    10 kgs₹ 4,500
    15 kgs₹ 6,750
    20 kgs₹ 9,000
    30 kgs₹ 13,500
  • Passengers can pre-book/purchase permission to carry sports/music equipment for Rs.1200 per item.
  • If the final baggage is within the prescribed limit, the cost of pre-purchased baggage is non-refundable.
  • The dimensions of the check-in baggage should not exceed 158 cms in total of L+W+H
  • Passengers are permitted to purchase extra baggage for each category separately as needed Passengers are not permitted to modify or cancel the pre-purchased baggage booking once it has been made
  • Cancellation of pre-booked baggage is only permitted if the entire flight ticket is cancelled.
  • Extra baggage charges will be refunded in full for both fully and partially refundable tickets.
  • If the passengers change their travel date, the same date will be automatically applied to the extra baggage;
  • If the passengers fail to show up at the gate for travel, no refund will be made for excess baggage purchased
  • If a dispute arises regarding excess baggage, Akasa Airlines' decision will be final and binding.

Akasa Airlines – Domestic Routes

The airline has only recently begun operations and will initially serve a small number of cities. Despite the fact that they have flights scheduled from all major cities, the routes they are taking are still limited. Passengers can currently only book flights on Akasa Airlines using the route chart below.

Akasa Airlines – Web Check-in and Verification

At the moment, Akasa Airlines does not offer web check-in to its passengers. You can, however, choose priority check-in services, which will aid in the smooth onboarding process while avoiding long lines at airport counters and allowing you to board your flight on time. Priority check-in also enables customers to have their luggage delivered earlier than non-priority customers once they arrive at their destination. Priority check-in, like extra baggage, can be pre-booked online to avoid the hassle at the airport counter, and passengers can make the booking for priority check-in until one hour before the flight departure.

The following are some considerations for passengers booking a priority check-in and bag for Akasa airlines:

  • A fee of Rs. 400 per passenger is charged for priority check-in and baggage arrival.
  • Priority check-in service is only available to passengers who have a confirmed Akasa Airlines ticket.
  • Priority check-in fees are non-refundable.

Another highlight of the new Akasa Airlines travel is the priority check-in service, which provides customers with a quick on-boarding experience. In addition, airlines have issued a set of guidelines and policies that passengers must follow in order to receive priority check-in:

  • Passengers who have purchased priority check-in and luggage cannot transfer it to another person.
  • Passengers may book priority check-in at least one hour before the flight's departure.
  • Infants travelling with priority check-in customers are not charged an additional fee.
  • Passengers must approach the Akasa airline airport counter or contact Akasa airline staff for priority check-in.
  • Only two check-in bags will be permitted with priority check-in, and the same number of bags will be delivered on the belt with priority tags.
  • The priority check-in service cannot be cancelled on an individual basis by passengers.
  • Priority check-in fees will be fully refunded for fully and partially cancelled bookings.
  • If the passenger changes the travel date, the pre-booked priority check-in service will be transferred to the new date.
  • No refunds will be provided if the passengers do not show up at the airport if they have purchased the service in advance.
  • The pre-booked priority check-in services can only be cancelled if the corresponding flight booking is also cancelled.
  • Any dispute arising from the priority check-in and bag service will be resolved after the final decision from Akasa airline

Akasa Airline – Inflight Experience

The aircrafts that Akasa Air brings to the foray are world-class in nature and the most environmentally friendly that any air carrier in India has ever introduced. All of their aircrafts are fuel efficient and emit 205 fewer emissions than other airlines, making them the most environmentally friendly airline. Furthermore, the noise level is nearly 50% lower than that of any other aircraft, making them even more environmentally friendly.

In terms of cabin experience, Akasa provides an exceptional in-flight experience to its passengers through modular interiors, sculpted cabin walls, spectacular window reveals, and mesmerising LED lighting that enhances the overall cabin experience. Well-trained support staff, on-ground personnel, and flight crew make passengers feel safe and comfortable while providing a luxury experience on a low-cost flight.

Café Akasa provides on-board service for Akasa Airlines, offering a variety of healthy, tasty, and high-quality meal options. The Café Akasa provides a one-of-a-kind gourmet experience that passengers can enjoy while flying.

The menu items at Café Akasa are inspired by the farm to plate concept and include nutritious, fresh, and healthy dishes curated by the country's celebrity chefs. To create, a well-balanced fusion of Indian meals was used. Café Akasa's menu will cater to all passengers' tastes. The menu also includes a special year-round festive menu as well as upscale meal options such as Vietnamese rice rolls, hot chocolate, gourmet pasta, and more.

The packaging for the meals is also sourced from a sustainable grown group, ensuring that no harm is done to the environment. To ensure that customers have no complaints about their Café Akasa service, the airline promises to refund the fees charged for pre-booked meals if the flight is cancelled. Additionally, passengers who cancel their pre-booked meal and ticket combos at least 24 hours before the flight's departure are eligible for a full refund for the food service. However, no-show passengers will not be reimbursed for the Café Akasa fee.

On their website, Akasa Air also states that the airline or Café Akasa cannot guarantee that allergenic foods such as peanuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, and so on are not used in their meals because they are prepared using standard recipes. As a result, Akasa Airlines and Café Akasa cannot guarantee 100% allergen-free food. They have also advised passengers to take note of the ingredients if they are allergic to anything and to take proper medical precautions to avoid exposure to allergen substances.

Akasa Airlines – Customer Experience

Customer experience is everything for Akasa air travel, which positions itself as a customer-first organisation. They have made strategic vertical alignments to fulfil their brand promise of \"sky is for everyone.\" They ensure that the service and experience they provide to their customers will assist them in developing more dignified processes and technologies that will allow them to better serve their passengers.

Customers can contact Akasa Airlines directly through the Akasa care centre, where specialised care officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will also assist you with questions, flight schedules, and complaints. They will also collect customer feedback on services to assist Akasa Air carrier in innovating and improving their services.

Akasa Airlines – Board First Service

Akasa Air's Board First Service is available to ensure that customers have the best experience possible when flying with Akasa. Passengers can choose early boarding and enjoy the warm and friendly in-flight service without having to wait in long lines. Passengers can book the board first service up to an hour before the flight departure via the Akasa website or the Akasa airlines app. Customers will, however, be charged a nominal fee of Rs. 400 per passenger for Board First Service. Other board first service terms and conditions are as follows:

  • Passengers who have pre-purchased Board First Service cannot transfer it to another person;
  • Passengers can book board first up to one hour before the flight's departure; and
  • Infants travelling with priority check-in customers are not charged an additional fee.
  • Passengers must approach the Akasa airline airport counter or contact Akasa airline staff for board first service.
  • Passengers are unable to cancel the priority check-in service on their own.
  • Board first fees will be fully refunded for fully and partially cancelled bookings.
  • If the passenger changes the travel date, the pre-booked board first service will be transferred to the updated date;
  • No refunds will be provided if the passengers do not show up at the airport if they have purchased the service in advance;

In contrast, April to June sees the summer season, with temperatures rising above 40°C, making it quite hot for outdoor activities. Flights to Delhi may be less expensive during the summer months, but it can be challenging to explore the city due to the heat.

The monsoon season, from July to September, brings moderate rainfall, which can sometimes lead to travel disruptions. However, this is also the time when Delhi’s green spaces are at their best, and the city tends to be less crowded with tourists.
