Coorg Holiday Home (Raksh Cottage)

I planned my trip from Bangalore to Kannur (320Kms) and thought to visit Coorg Monastery on the way & decided to stay one night in Coorg. There were many options to stay near Monastery (Kushanagar/ Madikeri), but I chose Raksh cottage based on some positive reviews. However, I would not recommend a family with kid(s) alone to choose this place, until you are at least 2-3 couples/families. Reason - We were the ONLY family/guest is their Huge Campus, and it felt a bit scary in late evening. The adjoining huge estate, voices of frogs & lizards in silent night, dark bushes & trees touching your room windows (with broken latch/locks) makes you feel uncomfortable. If you come in a big group, you may term the same place as "Secluded" :) From my this time experience, myself as a Family with small kid, would prefer to book a Hotel/Homestay within City and not at a lonely/secluded place. Overall, the place itself was good, well maintained, breakfast was good, and Mrs. Dina (Sujay's wife) was very humble and welcomed us with an apology for the difficulty in finding their place. Some suggestions (not complaint) to Mr Sujay for improving the customer's reviews :- 1. Please do not be rude, or welcome a guest with your sarcastic statement "WHO TOLD YOU TO USE GOOGLE MAP" if someone is unable to locate your place, especially when the place itself is wrongly marked in Google Map. It would be rather convenient for future guests, if you could work in correcting your Cottage location in Google Map. 2. Check the amenities/facilities in rooms on a regular basis - if they are in working condition. E.g. The Cable TV in room was not working, and the room windows had lock issue. 3. Please do not generalize or make opinion about your guest(s). Some guests might have liked to keep the windows open in night, but my concern for Window lock nowhere leads to your statement to me as --> "Is this the first time you are staying in a Home-stay". I wish Good Luck to Mr. Sujay, with a hope that he would greet the future guests politely & leave the sarcasm in his tone.

Friends called me asked about the weekend, and the first thing that came to my mind was lets go to Coorg. I have been there twice and and i just loved the place, I spent 2 days at the Coorg holiday home(Raksh Cottage) Coorg, and it was the most relaxing place I have ever visited. The weather was wonderfully cool, and the views in all directions were amazing! The rooms were very clean and hygienic and Very tasty food. Hospitality is very good. Location is heavenly. Best to visit to enjoy the peaceful scenic beauty. Safe for families especially with kids. The owner Mr.Sujith was very helping in planning for our visit and guided and Mrs. Deena Sujay was very friendly and getting us tea coffee every time v came back to room from outside, i asked for bon fire but v didnt gt as it was sunday and they said labourers wont get night time to put. still we enjoyed whole night in lane by doing party, if it s bon fire it will be more awesome...overall it was unforgettable stayed in this homestay..again visiting soon with some other frnds... thanks sujay n deena ;)

My stay was not that much good tin this hotel as hotel was nice but there was a power cut in the area and i had to stay without electricity and there were no power backup in the hotel. Actually they had some power backup but they didn't use it for the guest but they used it for own use. didn't had power backup. manger, they were not using for guest. That was not acceptable at all. otherwise hotel staff and the services was good and food was decent. location of the hotel was outer near to the forest. Can be recommend this hotel for a family stay.

Wonderful Home-stay. We checked in late evening and we were handed the keys without any fuss. The rooms and the property were very well maintained. You have all the basic amenities provided in the room. Rooms and their bathrooms were quite spacious. There is a separate play area for kids. Best part for me was the breakfast. It was one of the best breakfast I have ever had. I would totally book this place next time I visit Coorg.
