Dumas Guest House, Pondicherry

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dumas Guest House in White Town, Puducherry, and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, the warm hospitality of the staff made me feel right at home.The guest house itself is beautifully designed, blending traditional charm with modern amenities. My room was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable sanctuary after a day of exploring the vibrant streets of Puducherry. The peaceful ambiance of the property made it a perfect retreat, yet it was conveniently located within walking distance of Sea and many popular attractions.One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious breakfast served each morning. Buttered toast with jam, accompanied by fresh muskmelon juice, a vibrant fruit platter, and a cup of rich coffee – a perfect start to the day with a continental breakfast that brings a delightful French vibe.What truly stood out was the attentive service provided by the staff. They were always ready to assist with recommendations, directions, and any requests I had, making my stay even more enjoyable.Overall, I highly recommend Dumas Guest House for anyone looking for a delightful and comfortable stay in Puducherry. It perfectly captures the essence of this charming town and offers an experience that I will cherish. I can’t wait to return! but a little overpriced compared to our stay at a 3 star hotel in Mahabalipuram, which is more luxurious.As a family staying at Dumas Guest House, we would appreciate a few key elements to enhance our experience:1. Comfortable Accommodations: Spacious and well-furnished rooms that cater to families, with enough bedding and amenities for everyone to feel at home.2. Family-Friendly Amenities: Access to facilities like a front balcony, and a little garden area for relaxation.3. Warm Hospitality: Friendly and attentive staff who can provide personalized service and help us with any needs, whether it’s meal recommendations or travel tips.4. Convenient Location: Proximity to family-friendly attractions and activities, making it easy for us to explore the area without much hassle.5. Safe Environment: A secure and welcoming atmosphere where we can relax and enjoy our time together without concerns.Overall, we would love for our stay at Dumas Guest House to be memorable, filled with comfort, warmth, and the chance to create lasting family memories.

The hotel have three types of rooms, classic, standard and superior,Unfortunately I booked Classic and they gave the worst room to me, no privacy!!!!!, it was mentioned window has garden view, but the view is to the road and always people were outside the window on the road side taking photos near the window, we can hear them talking, we felt insecure inside, curtains were not covering the window. Hotel management should address this!!!!.It was also mentioned bedding was of queen bed type in the description, but they provided us with two single beds joined together. which is very uncomfortable when you travel as couple. Their comment was, only standard type rooms are for couples., This makes me rethink I had similar experiences in the past while booking.In front of the hotel there was stagnant water like in an open ditch and full of mosquito larvaes, outside premises are smelly. There is no parking space provided by the property, the hotel staff told me it is okay to park on the road side, unfortunately someone hit on to the car, radiator grill was broken and radiator got bent also I got a parking ticket for parking there. There is a paid parking space 500 mts away from the hotel, lesson learnt...Complimentary breakfast fast they provided was idly and upma, was not upto expectations.The hotel is located in an ideal location and inside premises are great. their other rooms like standard and superior seems to be better.The classic room they offered to us was not worth the money spent.

I will explain the pros and cons pro Good location,near by beach, all eateries nearby within walkable distance. Clean rooms and inside premises. Cons I booked Classic room with window view, classic rooms are the worst rooms they have. it has no privacy window faces to the road side and, it feels insecure inside, you can see always someone outside your window taking their photo. Their standard rooms are good which is located inside the premises and have good privacy. There is no parking space for the property, the staff told we can park on the road side, but never park on road side, I got Parking ticket and also some body damaged my car by crashing on to it, front grill and radiator got bent. premises are very unhygienic outside the property with bad smell and stagnated water with mosquito larvaes.

We stayed at this guest house for one night. This guest house is very close to the Promenade. The room gives an impression of colonial-era architecture. The room was spacious with a clean washroom. The breakfast is not a buffet style rather we need to inform what we would like to have. The staff and host are very courteous and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
