EKA Resort Hallibyle Village

Eka Resort is located in deep forest and is very isolated. There are no proper roads to reach the place and once you check in to the hotel getting out and seeing around needs lot of motivation as it is going to cause lot of damage to your vehicle. The resort is also pretty boring. Nothing much can be done there for any stay more lasting more than a day. I had a confirmed booking through goibibo using an offer code.The booking was done one month in advance and the room booked was an AC Delux room. On arriving at the resort Mr. Nayak the general manager had a servant room converted to a makeshift bedroom without AC ready for me. When I refused the room he said that the rates with which goibibo got the booking fixed for me were the old rates and now all the other AC deluxe rooms are occupied with the new rates. With utter disappointment I had to contact goibibo and requested for a solution. With lot of difficulty Mr. Nayak confirmed over the telephone to GoIbio personal that he didn't have any room for me and I was promised a refund. In this trip, I had a lost a day of vacation I had to drive back all the way to Bangalore(total 600 kms approximately up and down) because I was out of choice and all this chaos costed me lot of energy, time, fuel and money which will not be compensated by Eka resort neither GoIbibo.

This resort is inside a 50 acre coffee estate, so the location is awesome, serene and peaceful. It has got nice looking cottages, pool facing the estate, large party area next to pool, SPA, outdoor badminton court, volleyball space and enough parking for 5-6 cars. Since it is next to the road, you can hear vehicle movement, even though traffic is very less. Staff is polite and attentive. Biggest problem is lack of maintenance, Though pool is nice, pool side party area has broken/rusted chairs, rain dance area is wasted, no water coming in shower near pool. Badminton court needs cleaning and painting, TT table is unusable. Bathrooms were not clean, we asked to change bedsheets, AC was not working, there was frequent power cut, we had to tell to switch on DG, there was no hot water in bathroom. I won't recommend this to family, but saving grace is property is all yours because there won't be many guests, so no crowd and lot of privacy if you can live with badly maintained things. Body massage was really good. We took lunch buffet, it was arranged well even though there were only 6 guests, food was tasty. But not many items for breakfast - only bread, omlet, poha, puliyogare, watermelon and a sweet. Overall its an average resort, not worth 6k per night, don't go by the pictures.

resort is wonderfully located & in an amazing secluded spot. the only issue one will face is to reach the resort. the resort website, or goibibo.com does not have clear direction instructions to reach the resort, so we had to call resort manager & take directions over phone. anyway, the location is fantastic, in the middle of western ghats jungles. it was amazing at the night times, resort has been kept quite clean and definitely it is a good property. we had issues with respect to the intercom not working. so it was difficult calling the kitchen or reception. however, the staff was very good, they did not say NO to anything we asked. we felt, the buffet lunch & dinner was overpriced @ 450/- per person. it should be around the reasonable 300/- mark considering the spread available. the chef had organized a very nice barbecue for our group & the manager Mr. Naik was very comforting and courteous.

This is at one of the remote area. Go only if you are a gang of bachelor's. Absolutely No for families and Kids. You will see giant spiders freely roaming around in your room and absolutely no one will respond to your emergency call in the mid night. I booked for two nights and couldn't able to stay there for more than a night. It was like a Ghost Bungalow and my experience was horrible. If your wife or kids have allergy to insects, kindly avoid this place.
