Guleria Kothi @ Ganges (A Boutique Heritage Hotel)

Located on the banks of the River Ganga and with wonderful view of the sunrise and the beautiful river, Guleria Kothi is a nostalgic mix of the past and the present. The hotel has been refurbished tastefully to modern standards and probably among the best you could get on the ghats at this price range. The hotel caters to global travellers and there are several menu options to suit your taste. The rooms, bathrooms and linen were as per industry standards with room amenities offered are equivalent to any 5 star standard. The staff is very friendly, genuine and courteous. The people of Varanasi are among the warmest in the world when it comes to hospitality and friendliness. You could spend an entire day at the kothi if you take one of the river facing rooms and photographers interested in birds and landscapes would be delighted. The location is perfect for visiting Shri Vishwanath temple and Shri KaalBhairav both of which are walkable through lanes which seem frozen in time over thousands of years. I would highly recommend soaking in the overall experience where the past is still the present and to truly experience 'Bholenagiri", the great land of Bholenath (Lord and protector of innocence). One must be willing to take a small 1km trek by foot through the beautiful ghats from Chowk on the main road to the hotel. The walking alleys have several temples and cows making your walking experience unique with each lane having its own story to tell. If you have a lot of luggage, please contact the hotel staff when you're 15 minutes away from Chowk as it could be quite exhaustive to do it yourself. If you plan to visit in Aug-September, please contact the hotel as the entrance and many alleys leading to the hotel might be inaccessible due to rising water levels of the great Shri Ganga. Have a lovely spiritual experience dancing in the home of the friendliest Lord Shiva! Jai Bholenath! To the hotel staff - It would be great if the windows of the room could be opened to allow for some ventilation. thanks.

Have stayed at many fancy hotels and resorts but Guleria did a fabulous job in the minute detailings. Loved it's architecture , hospitality , river view and the welcoming part the most. I had made a reservation for 3 and they had placed the extra bed, extra towel and hand towels and items even before I checked inn. Which some hotels juat never pay attention to and one has to ask for what was already ordered!! Thank you :)

It's a beautiful boutique hotel, right by the ghats. Couldn't ask for a better experience in Varanasi. Cosy, lovely rooms facing the river. You can request pick up by boat. Staff is very friendly too.

Shameful services by hotel, very poor facilitators to reach hotel approx. 1.5 km running by foot, no cooperation, local water available in rooms, smallest size TV, not proper lighting
