The Bouganvilla

On 2nd April, we called up hotel manager (Thyagu) 2 hours prior to reaching hotel and were extremely surprised to know that there were no rooms booked in our name! so they didn't have any room booking intimation with them. He also suggested that as a good gesture, he will help us in getting rooms in another hotel. And then he just didn't pick up my calls. We reached at 8pm along with my parents (75 Years & 65 Years old), one child, tired after a 15 hour journey from Mumbai, and found that the manager and the other asst. manager - Shekhar - who was supposedly just 1-day old at Bouganvilla - had gone home without any intimation to any of the Hotel staff. Manager did not respond to our call!! Our patience gave in. We called from hotel kitchen staff number and he picked up and said he was unwell. I also checked the hotel's mail box on their computer, which was left open, and found that there was booking and payment confirmation mail sent to the hotel in Feb'2016 (We traveled on 2nd Apr'2016) and it was also received by the hotel. I wonder how can someone lie so much? I ensured that the hotel manager meets us at Bouganvilla and he had multiple stories of him being unwell and finally cried and apologized. Finally we managed to go to our room at 10:30pm and could just manage to have dinner at Gem Park (Again paid by Bouganvilla :)). Thank for the courtesy of sponsoring our dinners for both the nights but that hardly mitigates the bad taste we experienced at Bouganvilla after a tiring 15 hrs journey. Not sure if it was under-table transaction by the manager or sheer disrespect for customer bookings or some other hotel booking racket, it would have turned into a major fiasco for anyone else, who wouldn't have managed to put up a strong fight.

Horrible management staff!!! We had confirmed two rooms (Delux Suits) from Goibibo. We called up hotel manager (Tyagu) two hours prior to reaching hotel and surprised to know that there was no rooms booked in our name.  We reached at 8pm and found that the manager has gone home without any intimation to any of the Hotel staffs. We had our parents (70 Years & 65 Years old)and son (12 years) with us and by that time we had traveled almost 15 hrs (Mumbai to Bangalore by flight and then from Bangalore to Ooty by road). Manager did not respond to our call!! Our patience gave in. We contacted Goibibo and the Goibibo customer care executive connected us to the hotel manager. After lots of arguments and threatening to lodge police complain (for almost 1&1/2 hours) we could push the hotel manager to book another better hotel (Gem Park) 5km away from this hotel and fully paid by Bouganvilla. I could mange to sneak into the mailbox of hotel manager, and found that there was booking and payment confirmation mail sent to the hotel in Feb'2016 (We traveled on 2nd Apr'2016) and it was also read by the hotel. I wonder how can someone lie so much? Finally we managed to go to our room at 10:30pm and could just manage to have dinner at Gem Park (Again paid by Bouganvilla :)). Hotel is very near to railway station, but still in a secluded and calm place. Good that they offer free pick up & drop from ooty railway station. Food was homely and good quality ; but seems to be little over priced (in fact they will make up for the free complementary breakfast they serve). They will prepare as per your requirement. The highlight about the hotel is that they have cab facility for local site seeing which can be availed for some amount (1500 - 2000 rs per day). The guide cum driver Mr.Babuji is a down to earth person who is quite experienced and know the nooks and corners of ooty. He is reliable and dedicated. But it was his last day in Bougainville and he was planning to leave the job. In fact we had a good time staying there. Thanks to babuji, vimal, paneerselvam, anand & chinthamani

The service was excellent with polite and helpful staff. The complimentary breakfast was exemplary (fresh,tasty and homemade). The room was comfortable. The bathroom was a letdown with a shower and tap that worked at half the force ( of course can be rectified ). Room heaters at extra cost ( surprising as we don`t pay for extra AC ). Would visit again if the shower worked and the room was warmer :)
