The Fort Mercara

What more you can expect, I booked 3 nights and 4 days stay in Mercara. Pros - Building is next to Madikeri Police Station Room was spacious enough. Toiletries provided. In house dining available. Complimentary Breakfast was just awesome. There is no buffet and it is in fact good that they ask what we want. We can get Dosa, Idly or Poori and it will come hot. So much of Parking Space available. There is a big basement parking. Also, we can park just in front of the hotel. Below are the 3 day plan for people visiting Madikeri. Itinerary: Day 1: From 2 PM - Fort and Museum together just opposite to hotel. Raja Seat - hardly 10 minutes walk Mariamma Temple, just adjacent to Raja Seat Omkareshwar and Hanuman Temple - Just behind Mercara Above all can be covered by walking. Day 2: Abbey Water falls, just few steps to get down to reach scenic view, around 6 KM from Mercara. Kote Abbey waterfalls. You can enjoy the river stream before 5 KM of Kote Abbey. Mandalpatti Peak, near from Kote Abbey and it is off road for 4KM. Jeep will charge 1500 (Don't take keep from Abbey(Jeep charge 2500), instead, reach Kote Abbey falls, single cement road drive in the forest which will give awesome feel) Note Abbey and Kote Abbey are different. Talacauvery and Triveni sangamam. Day 3: Golden Temple (Nandroling - Tibetian Monastery) You have to come to Kushal Nagar for this. Nisargadhama - Deer Park, Birds Sanctuary, River (Boating Available from November) Eateries and Shopping. Half day can be spent Cons: Nothing to say 5 Star for The Fort Mercara, worth for the money what you pay. Food, Parking, Staff, Room etc.,

The room size was big enough but it was too hot even though 1 wall fan & 1 standing fan was provided.. service was pathetic as we had to ask for providing things all the time as they did not kept the room ready..when we entered only 1 pillow was available in the room..also electric kettle was not kept although tea/coffee was there.. toiletries were not there..only shower gel was provided..towel was also provided only when we asked them..both day breakfast menu was same with only 1 change of sweets and breakfast quality was also not good..2nd day we went breakfast at 9.30am but idly was already finished by then & when we asked them they said to prepare again it will take 40-45mins..most of the time nobody was available at reception also..so overall the experience was very bad.. List of dislikes is more than the likes..it was worst hotel experience until now.

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms are big and clean with basic amenities. It's located in the heart of the city, and the reception is friendly. Hot water is available. If you just need a place to stay, this is a great option. The attached restaurant is good, though the soups weren't great. The fixed breakfast options are the same every day. Overall, it was worth the price we paid.

the location is good as the market is quite accessible. room was unexpectedly small unlike what we could make out from the photos. hand shower was leaking. room was not ready to checkin even after 3pm... breakfast had limited items and few items were finished before 10am. the only thing that we liked was the food( not the complimentary breakfast) , rest was just an average stay
