The city experiences moderate temperatures. The best time to visit Dublin is from June to September when the temperature is mild. Winter from December to February is cold and wet. Rain possibilities are usually positive, so it is good to carry a rain jacket with you while going out. Places to Visit
The compact city of Dublin has a fair amount of attractions to visit. The 18th-century Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin City Gallery, The National Museum of Ireland, former prison at Kilmainham Gaol, Trinity College and Chester Beatty Library are some popular sights to visit. Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Distillery offer a guided tour and tell you about the history and the brewing process. St. Stephen’s Green and Phoenix Park are among the coolest places to spend time leisurely. Phoenix Park is huge and also contains a zoo on the premises so you can happily take your children there. Grafton Street and Creative Quarter are popular shopping areas in the city where you can watch buskers perform while shopping. Since Dublin had been home to literary legends like Oscar Wilde and James Joyce, you can go to a literary pub crawl that includes a walking tour and street performances.
Food and Restaurants
Though the city of Dublin offers the best treats, it can be a bit expensive too. Do not worry about finding a pub, as perhaps every corner has someone’s favourite haunt. The Temple Bar is a happening place to visit as it has tons of restaurants, bars and pubs. Soda Bread, Shellfish, Irish Stew, Colcannon and Champ, Boxty, Black and white pudding, and Coddle are must-eat local dishes in Dublin.
Transportation
Dublin Airport (DUB) is the major airport serving the city. It is connected to various international and domestic cities with popular air carriers such as Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Emirates, Etihad, Lufthansa. There are no direct flights from India to Dublin. Etihad, Air India, Lufthansa are some of the known air links providing connecting services to Dublin. Cheap flight tickets from here to other popular cities can be booked online on Goibibo. Also, flight status & other details related to international flight booking & air tickets can be easily accessed on it. So for cheapest air tickets, it is recommended to book flights online. Heuston Station and Connolly Station are two important railway stations that connect Dublin to Cork, Belfast, Limerick and other cities of Ireland. Nearby Connolly railway station, Busaras is the major bus station in the city. Eurolines buses connect Dublin to several cities of Europe and Bus Eireann operates to many cities and towns of Ireland. You can also reach Dublin from Wales and England via waterways.
Dublin has an excellent public transportation system. Buses and tram services (Luas) run very efficiently throughout the city. If you are travelling to the suburbs, then you can use the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART) line which is time and cost-friendly. A Leap Card is a refundable card and very useful for travel in trams and buses. Public bikes can be rented as well. Taxis are fluid but are very costly, so it is advised to mostly avoid them if you are travelling on a budget.
