Around a year later after placing the order, in May 2009, the airlines received its first aircraft, which took off on 1st June to Beirut. By the end of the month, it provided flights to Amman, Damascus and Alexandria, and ever since it has been constantly adding routes to expand its network. After just 3 months of its operations, FlyDubai carried its 100,000 passenger and by July 2010, it flew its one millionth passenger. Check Out Flydubai Airlines Flight status , Flydubai Airlines Web Check in process and Baggage Allowance details.

Flydubai History

FlyDubai was established with the mission to make travel safe, comfortable and affordable. The Government of Dubai took the initiative to set up the first low cost airlines of the city in March 2008. Only few weeks later, FlyDubai booked 50 Boeing 737-800 NG aircrafts at the Farnborough Air Show in June. This step was enough for the airline to mark its arrival. Around a year later, in May 2009, FlyDubai received its first aircraft. The beginning of the next month, 1st June 2009, marked the commencement of its commercial services when FlyDubai’s first flight took off for Beirut. By the end of June, the airline offered flights to Amman, Damascus and Alexandria. With the delivery of more aircrafts, it provided connectivity on numerous international routes, which included cities of GCC and Middle East. Besides, its network extended to cities across North Africa, Indian Subcontinent, Asia as well as Central and Eastern Europe. With aggressive expansion plans and efficient services, FlyDubai has become a popular name over the years.

About Dubai

Nestled along the Persian Gulf coastline, this vibrant metropolis is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Known for its futuristic architecture, opulent lifestyle, and rich heritage, Dubai offers an unparalleled blend of tradition and modernity. From the towering Burj Khalifa to the serene Dubai Creek, the city is a testament to human ingenuity and ambition.

Dubai’s allure lies in its ability to cater to every type of traveler. Whether you are an adventure enthusiast, a shopaholic, or a culture buff, Dubai promises an unforgettable experience. The city’s history as a trading port is still evident in its bustling souks and traditional dhow cruises, while its rapid development is showcased in its state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class attractions. With a cosmopolitan vibe, Dubai is a melting pot of cultures, offering a unique glimpse into the harmonious coexistence of diverse communities.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Dubai is during the winter months, from November to February, when the weather is pleasantly cool and perfect for outdoor activities. This period also coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival in January, offering visitors a chance to indulge in retail therapy and enjoy various entertainment events. The summer months, from June to August, can be extremely hot, with temperatures soaring above 40°C, making it less favorable for sightseeing. However, this is also the time when you can find great deals on flights and accommodations.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to October) are also good times to visit, with moderate temperatures and fewer crowds. These shoulder seasons offer a balanced mix of pleasant weather and affordable travel options, making them ideal for budget-conscious travelers.

Places to Explore in Dubai

Dubai is home to a plethora of iconic landmarks and hidden gems that cater to all interests. The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, offers breathtaking views of the city from its observation decks. For a taste of luxury, visit the Burj Al Arab, a seven-star hotel known for its distinctive sail-shaped architecture.

Adventure seekers can indulge in dune bashing, skydiving, and desert safaris, while families can enjoy a day at one of the many theme parks, such as IMG Worlds of Adventure or Dubai Parks and Resorts. The Palm Jumeirah, an artificial archipelago, is another must-visit destination, offering luxury resorts, fine dining, and stunning beaches.

For a cultural experience, explore the historic Al Fahidi Neighborhood, home to traditional wind-tower houses and the Dubai Museum. The Jumeirah Mosque, open to non-Muslim visitors, provides insight into Islamic culture and architecture. The Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the Burj Khalifa, offers mesmerizing water shows set to music and lights.

Shopping enthusiasts can visit the Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, or explore the traditional Gold Souk, Spice Souk, and Textile Souk for a more authentic experience. Other notable attractions include the Dubai Marina, a bustling waterfront district, and the serene Dubai Creek, where you can take an abra (traditional boat) ride.

Airport Details

Dubai is served by two major airports: Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Dubai International Airport, located approximately 4.6 kilometers from the city center, is one of the busiest airports in the world, connecting over 260 destinations through more than 120 airlines, including Emirates, FlyDubai, and Etihad Airways. The airport features three terminals, with Terminal 3 exclusively dedicated to Emirates flights.

Al Maktoum International Airport, situated around 37 kilometers from the city center, is part of the Dubai World Central (DWC) development project. Although currently serving fewer flights, it is set to become one of the largest airports globally, with plans for extensive expansion.

Both airports offer excellent connectivity to the city through various modes of transportation, including taxis, buses, and metro services. Popular flight routes to Dubai include connections from major cities like London, New York, Mumbai, and Sydney, making it a convenient destination for international travelers.

Local Transportation

Getting from Dubai International Airport to the city center is easy and convenient. The Dubai Metro’s Red Line connects Terminals 1 and 3 to key locations across the city, including Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina, and Deira. Taxis are readily available outside the terminals, offering a comfortable and efficient way to reach your destination. App-based ride services like Uber and Careem are also popular options.

Dubai’s public transportation system, managed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is extensive and efficient. The metro, with its Red and Green Lines, covers major attractions and business districts. Buses, trams, and water buses provide additional connectivity, making it easy to navigate the city. For a unique experience, take an abra ride across Dubai Creek, connecting Bur Dubai and Deira.

Taxis are a convenient option for getting around, with metered fares and availability throughout the city. For those looking to explore at their own pace, car rentals are widely available. Additionally, bike rentals and e-scooters offer eco-friendly ways to explore certain areas.

For seamless travel on public transport, consider purchasing a Nol Card, a rechargeable smart card that can be used on the metro, buses, trams, and water buses. This card offers convenience and discounts, making it an essential accessory for navigating Dubai.
