About Naples
“See Naples and die”, a traditional Italian proverb is enough to explain why the capital of Campania is one of the most visited places in Italy. The city where Pizzas originated from, has history, culture, food, everything one might possibly wish for to make their holiday memorable. Naples' 2,800-year-history has left it with a wealth of historical buildings and monuments, from medieval castles to classical ruins.
Even after being the most bombed Italian city during the World War II, Naples continues to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Pompeii, that has remained firmly embedded in most people's memories since history class at school, is one of the main attractions in Naples. No trip to Naples will be complete without a visit to Pompeii and Vesuvius. The historic Centre of Naples is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Naples has a total of 448 historical churches, making it one of the most Catholic cities in the world in terms of the number of places of worship. Other than history, Napoli takes its food very seriously. When in the city, you are never too far from an authentic wood oven. Pizzas and pastas are items, nobody can ever go wrong in Naples as this is the place where they originated from. Naples has beauty everywhere, be it a metro station as well. The Toledo Metro Station was awarded the title of the most beautiful metro stop in Europe by LEAF in 2013.
