Flydubai History
FlyDubai was established with the mission to make travel safe, comfortable and affordable. The Government of Dubai took the initiative to set up the first low cost airlines of the city in March 2008. Only few weeks later, FlyDubai booked 50 Boeing 737-800 NG aircrafts at the Farnborough Air Show in June. This step was enough for the airline to mark its arrival. Around a year later, in May 2009, FlyDubai received its first aircraft. The beginning of the next month, 1st June 2009, marked the commencement of its commercial services when FlyDubai’s first flight took off for Beirut. By the end of June, the airline offered flights to Amman, Damascus and Alexandria. With the delivery of more aircrafts, it provided connectivity on numerous international routes, which included cities of GCC and Middle East. Besides, its network extended to cities across North Africa, Indian Subcontinent, Asia as well as Central and Eastern Europe. With aggressive expansion plans and efficient services, FlyDubai has become a popular name over the years.
