Mihin Lanka History
Mihin Lanka was incorporated by the Sri Lankan government in October 2006, but commenced its operations in April 2007. With two leased Airbus A320, the airlines offered flights from Colombo to routes like Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Bodhgaya, Bangkok, Singapore and Maldives in India and the Middle East. However, within a year of its launch, the airlines lost its aircrafts to their respective owners in Turkey and Bulgaria. Thus, Mihin Lanka was forced to cease all operations in April 2008. On 1 January 2009, Mihin Lanka resumed its operations with a leased 19-year old A320 aircraft that flew to Dubai. It was later replaced by an ex Air Deccan Airbus A320. Mihin Lanka purchased its first own aircraft, an Airbus A321, in December 2010. Post the delivery of its third aircraft in August 2012, Mihin Lanka extended its services to destinations like Bangkok and Singapore.
