La Maison Royale

We regret booking our stay at Le Maison Royale in Pondicherry. Our experience was extremely disappointing. We had booked balcony rooms, expecting spacious accommodations, but the rooms were surprisingly small, especially the toilets, which were a letdown.To make matters worse, there was no hot water in one of our rooms. Our driver was not provided with accommodation—instead, he was given a room with junk and broken furniture, and there was no clean space to spend the night. He was forced to spend the night in his car because of the poor conditions. The toilet in the common area was broken, leaving him without proper facilities, which is highly unusual as drivers are typically offered common accommodations and access to public toilets.The hotel was understaffed, and there was no one to assist with our luggage. While there was a receptionist during check-in, during check-out, we had to haul our heavy suitcases up and down the 1st and 2nd floors, as there was no elevator. Additionally, there were no coffee or tea facilities available in the mornings, which is something you’d expect.Overall, we were very disappointed with the stay, and we are shocked by the other positive reviews. Based on our experience, we wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.One of our biggest concerns was the lack of hot water in one of our rooms, which made things very inconvenient. Additionally, our driver was not provided with proper accommodation—instead, he was given a space filled with junk and broken furniture, with no clean place to sleep. As a result, he was forced to spend the night in his car. The common toilet for drivers was also broken, which we found unacceptable, as most hotels provide at least basic facilities for them.

The property is well maintained and clean. Staff are friendly and supportive. It's situated very close to the railway station and most places are close by. If you are hiring a bikes for rent, you can easily commute within pondicherry. They also provide rent for bikes so you don't have to go searching elsewhere. They do not have food included. The only two drawbacks I felt was, we did not have the house keeping clean the room during our stay and also we did not have continuous hot water available for bath. Otherwise a very nice and budget friendly accommodation one can choose.

La Maison Royale was such a homely and cozy place to stay at. It's the best destination for people who are in pondy for workations/are here on their working days, thanks to the high speed and consistent internet. Loved the way the staff were respecting the privacy and space. Thanks to La Maison Royale team for this pleasant experience. Will definitely consider the same during my next visit as well. Cheers!

Value for money. Very close to pondicherry railway station and white town. My room, G1, was quite small and because it's at the entrance, there is some noise disturbance from outside. Rooms are relatively clean and hotel staff is very friendly. They arranged for scooter and taxi when required.
