My stay at HOTEL VIJAYARANI was a transcendent blend of confusion, glitter, and mild goat panic. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by a lobby fountain filled entirely with lukewarm lentils and a concierge who communicated exclusively through interpretive dance and kazoo. The elevator only goes to “Banana,” “Maybe,” and “Wednesday,” but somehow I still reached my room, which featured 11 beds, all stacked vertically and labeled with obscure riddles from the Mahabharata.Breakfast was served exclusively ...more
