I spent a total of 3 nights in a deluxe room at Laxmi Guesthouse and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to stay in the vicinity of the railway station and main shopping area. The guesthouse is not on a main road and it is back from the street which makes it quiet and peaceful. It is clean and well maintained. We Swiss are often thought to be overly concerned with cleanliness. I was very happy with my room and surroundings. It is run hands on by the owner and extended family and they are genuinely concerned for every detail of their guest's comfort. I have stayed in much more expensive hotels in India that didn't show any understanding of the word "hospitality" which is used to describe the hotel industry. Room service is available and the food I had was well prepared and delicious and the portions were generous. Also there is free Wi-Fi internet which is a nice addition which many Indian hotels have not yet implemented, especially those in the low price range.

The owners were extremely good, warm and caring; and made us feel instantly at home. We reached quite early: around 7 am itself but they let us check in anyway (though official check in is 12 noon) saying, "Aap to apne hi ho!" And subsequently too our every need/problem was instantly attended to and/or resolved. Would definitely prefer to stay there if we were to visit Dehradun again.

The guest house is good. The location of the hotel is good and approachable. Food is also delicious although we just have aloo pratha at guest house. Service is fast and property is cleanly maintained by the staff. There is nothing to complain about this hotel. Although I feel hotel is not good for family stay but suitable for bachelors or group of friends.

Friendly owner. Ready to help staff. Bed sheet and pillow cover could be better, even properly wash but still a bit dusty. This might be with reason that room was prepared few day back.
