Safi Mawlynnong Tourist Cottage

First thing first, the address written itself for this property is wrong because it is shown as "Tourist Parking Lot". So, we tried to call the guy managing this property but he was not contactable on his given phone numbers, after doing search operation for our cottage and asking the shopkeeper lady at the parking lot we managed to finally find this place.The landlady got us checked-in hassle-free and we were soon greeted with option of dining at a nearby restaurant, but we decided to explore the village eatery options ourselves. The hot water tap inside the bathroom was not properly fit so every time you open the tap it was falling on the floor with pressure from geyser and pipe running free flow of water. Very poor maintenance as they had fixed with a cloth which also broke due to being weak string.This being said was still not a huge problem until when we returned from dinner and another couple waiting already on our cottage premises, arguing with the landlady.She approached us saying "she thought" we were confirmed booking with her that's why she let us in. So, I showed her the proof (booking voucher) but the another couple was adamant that they also were booked. The landlady calls this guy again who apparently manages such property remotely for the villagers. He was unbelievably rude and said that our booking was not valid (although having paid for in advance and not getting any cancellation, email, text message or a phone call!) Because we challenged him he started abusing me and my wife over phone call and said "THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM" I asked him where should I go at 21:35 in the night when this entire village is almost booked and there is no other place to stay! The he goes on to say your "tricks" are not going to work and immediately vacate the property NOW.His excuse was he "emailed Make My Trip" that he cannot take our booking whereas our booking was made from Goibibo. This argument itself made us believe that this guy is and must be reported to authorities. Then because he was failing the argument he started blaming us saying you used "Fake email and Phone nos. to make your booking". What a joke! Why would anyone pay in advance for a booking and use "Fake" contact details.I was on honeymoon trip with my wife to Meghalaya but this guy CONSTER ruined our entire plan for the next day as we were kicked out from the place within 3 hours or so after being checked in and paid for 2 nights and 3 days, a sum. The other couple then told us that this guy does that regularly and cancells bookings made via such portals to avoid their cut and instead books them directly through whatsapp. So they were booked through whatsapp. Unreal right? But sadly that's the mal-practice he has been doing for all properties he manages.Now, almost at midnight we found one room vacant in the village and we had to take it as we had no other option. No bargaining either. So if you ever plan to visit this village, good luck with your booking, especially if that property is managed by this guy.We reported this whole incident to a policeman in Meghalaya at whose house we were staying, only then he did cancellation on his end and returned our money (still the reason given by them was that we cancelled our booking -which is again an absolute lie), till then he hoarded our money and the money from the other couple too.We had very high impression of this village and the people there but this outsider ruined their image in our mind. Also, landlady didn't care to honour our booking confirmation and prepaid Goibibo Voucher with my name on it.All in all thankful to the other couple who gave us their room on payment cash ofcouse but saved us spending our night on the streets.A Big NO for Safi Cottage and their mismanagement and rude behaviour with already booked couples. They were inhumane to say the least. Other watchers of this incident were laughing on this entire argument episode which was the saddest part for us.

Very calm and clean place. Close to nature. Bathroom could be improved. Breakfast arrangements could be improved.
