Surya Desert Camp

Surya Desert Camps was by far one of the best travel camp experiences Ive ever had. I cant wakt to come back here again. 🙂 Khuri is a small remote village about 50km from jaisalamer, very quiet, rural and secluded. With very basic amenties and a few small shops selling tea and biscuits, this place really gives you a first hand experience of rural living. The camp is very convientely located to the dunes and the hotelier is very hospitable. He came to pick us up and drop us till the bus stop and pointed out different attractions we could see and answered our questions on culture and food. The food at this camp is also amazing! Dinner was a simple home cooked meal that seemed like a never ending buffet. We got to taste alot of local dishes cooked over the chulla like kadi, ker sangri amd bajra ki halwa. The camp in itself was very clean, very inviting and very quiet. Maybe a chair and table in the tents woild have helped us in packing and unpacking things instead of living out of a backpack but apart from that Id recommend anyone whose into unconventional travel to come visit this beautiful village of Khuri and stay at Surya Desert Camps. 😇🙂👌🥳

This place is ****. The rooms are suffocating and the beds are of such a poor quality that you might end up breaking one (though luckily we did not break any). Dinner was tasteless and it consisted of baingan ki sabzi, tasteless daal, and kadi, thinking about it still scares me. In the morning only paranthas( not the stuffed ones - aloo, gobhi) plain paranthas were served with pickle and tea ( yes even tea was not included in the breakfast) and it was gross. There was no nightlife and the crowd consisted of villagers, not the cream crowd for sure. This place is a waste of money, not recommended.

Nestled amidst the desert national park in a quaint lonely village surya camp is an idle spot to disconnect from the outside world and relax in the true sense. the maharaj managing v the place are very co operative and hospitable. food is not that great and the evening music program can get better and more livelier. They provide simple healthy food. The BEST PART OF THIS STAY WAS ITS LOCATION AT THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SAND DUNES. BEAUTIFUL

booked online got it for good deal at 550rs.its located in kuri/kudi.have a bus every hour n takes hour to reach.we took the mud house. location is close opposite to dessert dunes.just few minutes walk from camp.camp is very clean well maintained. they picked us up from kuri stop. evenings they even organized rajasthani traditional music and dance.best place with reasonably priced.
