The Fort Nalagarh

Nestled on the foothills of the Shivalik range , a hour and a half drive from Chandigarh it’s a beautiful property which needs maintenance. They seem to be working on it but it doesn’t seem enough . The staff is very polite though a little slow (which can be expected from the people of the hill- they have a laid back attitude which in a sense is good) . The room is filled with Nostalgia, old pictures of the royal family , wooden furniture , chips floor - If you like heritage chances are you’ll like the place - we loved it . The approach to the Fort is bad , the roads narrow , garbage strewn around -though once you reach the Fort it’s a welcome sight . We had breakfast (which was included) - a buffet with boiled eggs / white bread/ Potato cutlets/ semolina salted sewian/ Porridge and of course Milk cornflakes. Paranthas - excellent potatoes paranthas the filling was amazing-and eggs to order . The bathrooms were ok - basic clean but too many signs of wear ,tear and small leakages . Happy Holidays .

well..... firstly as you go over there keep in mind you have chosen the said property being a heritage one. so do expect to face some wear and tear issues. the management is putting all the efforts to run a fine show. the management especially the front desk needs a thumbs up. gave me an upgrade without any further charges. pros and cons are listed below.... Pros: 1. it's a heritage property. so it's a different experience altogether staying here. 2. management is attentive and ready to address your concerns. 3. food is good. 4. nice open courtyard, giving a good view of the entire city and a good place to spend your evenings and chill out with a mug of beer. 5. a functional swimming pool with seperate pools for kids and a badminton court as well. Cons: 1. wear and tear issues. 2. cleanliness is not upto the mark. 3. service is a bit slow. overall I ll recommend staying here and keep in mind ....it's not a Taj property.

The food quality is excellent. It is recommended to take all meals included in the deal. The bar & dining area is very nicely maintained. Family suits are good. But in deluxe rooms the bathrooms are not clean and needs renovation. Hotel staff is very cooperative and Shows good hospitality. Room service is little slow. Gym/ health is not ready as mentioned in the immunities in list. The overall experience was good.

A quaint place to visit, unlike Neemrana, which has lots of things happening and exorbitantly priced. Give a couple of days to yourself, relax, eat food and just lay around in a big pool or soak in the natural beauty with a cup of tea, coffee or beer, like me. Travelled with wife, a kid and two friends. Am assuming it will be wonderful during winters.
