Coronavirus and Travel: All You Need to Know Updated as on 3rd May 2021

PLEASE NOTE:We are closely working with our airline and hotel partners for lenient customer policies on date change, cancellations and waivers. We will continue to seamlessly pass on the waiver benefits to our customers, wherever applicable, and keep updating it here, as and when we receive them.

I already have my flights booked. How do I change or cancel my bookings?

We are working closely with our partners to extend complete support and comfort to our travellers for all domestic and international bookings.

We are working in tandem with our airline partners to offer an option to change their travel dates with no-fee charge.

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, certain airlines have confirmed their policy for date change without penalty (only the fare difference will apply). These policies might be applicable for travel on specified routes and within specified periods.

    • For all bookings done between 18th Apr‘21 and 15th May‘ (with no travel date restrictions), you can now change your flight to any new travel date free of cost till up to 2 hours from date/time of departure.
    • For all bookings done to or from Delhi till 10th May ’21 (with no travel date restrictions) you can change/cancel your flight to any new travel date free of cost till up to 2 hours before your schedules flight departure. Fare differences, if any, would apply.

    • One time free change is allowed if new travel date is beyond 15th May

    • Due to the COVID-19 surge, UAE authorities have restricted the entry of Indian nationals travelling from India to UAE. If any flight booked by you between 25th April and 4th May ’21 has been impacted, you have the following options
    • Opt for Credit Shell

    • The airline is offering a full refund in the form of a Credit Shell. This can be used to make any future booking for the same number of passenger(s), should you choose to take it. Please visit MyTrips to raise a refund request.

    • Cancellation Policy:
    • Full refund is permitted in case the schedule change has occurred on or before 18th March 2020.
    • Ticket can be kept as a credit to retain for future travel where schedule change has occurred on or after 19th March 2020. The credit will be valid for travel to be completed up to 24 months from date that the schedule change occurred.
    • Amendment Policy:
    • You can reschedule your travel, without any date-change charges, if the flight is affected due to changes ins schedule. Fare difference will be applicable.

    • Due to the COVID-19 surge, UAE authorities have restricted the entry of Indian nationals travelling from India to UAE. If any flight booked by you between 25th April and 4th May ’21 has been impacted, you have the following options.

      Applicable for tickets with initial booking date on or before 30th April 2020, and for initial travel dates between 26th January 2020 and 31st December 2020.

    • Cancellation Policy:
    • You may exchange your ticket for a travel voucher, which will be valid for up to 1 year from the date of issuance, for the total cost of the ticket.
    • The voucher can be used to book multiple tickets from SriLankan Airlines within validity period.
    • For flights cancelled up to 31st May 2020, full refund will be permitted, with all penalty waived off.
    • Amendment Policy:
    • Reschedule your travel without any route/date-change charges. Only fare difference will apply.
    • Number of changes allowed: Multiple
    • This policy shall be valid till 31st December 2020 for tickets that require any changes.

I already have my hotels booked. How do I change or cancel my bookings? What are my options for refund?

We are giving full-refund if your booking falls in the free cancellation time period. To check if your booking falls in the free cancellation time period, please click here and claim your refund. In case your booking has crossed the free cancellation window, please contact our customer service team on: 0124-6280407, 0124-4404207 or 022-62455107. If your hotel check-in is not within the next 7 days, we request you to please hold off calling customer service, so we can help those travelling immediately. That said, we want to assure you that all waiver benefits offered by our hotel suppliers are being seamlessly rolled-out to our customers.

The new coronavirus is known to spread from person to person through saliva droplets expelled while coughing or sneezing. Is it safe to travel within India?

The government authorities have proactively put appropriate checks and guidelines in place, especially at airports and points of entry to prevent further spread of the disease. Several advisories have been issued for the welfare of citizens, and healthcare facilities have been stepped up to contain the spread of infection. What are the general tips I should follow while travelling?

    While COVID-19 is contagious, you can protect yourself and your loved ones from infection while travelling by following this basic tips:

  • Maintain good respiratory hygiene and avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap, or use an alcohol-based hand-sanitizer.
  • Keep a distance of at least 3 feet from anyone who shows signs of cold, cough or fever.
  • If you feel unwell, stay indoors and avoid travelling.
  • Always cover your mouth with a cloth or the insides of your elbows while coughing or sneezing.
  • If you develop respiratory symptoms, seek medical help immediately without delay.
  • Avoid consuming raw or undercooked meat and eggs.
