It was an overall good stay at Mountain Retreat Kodai. Its a modern looking property (almost like a boutique hotel) nearby the lake with a great ambience. Pros: 1. Ideal location near lake area with lakeview rooms. 2. The room that we chose (named cypress) was quite spacious. 3. Room was kept quite clean. Bedsheets looked spotless and smelt fresh, which was a major highlight for me. 4. Food was prepared on demand and hence fresh. 5. Restaurant staff was pleasant and helpful. 6. They have a kids play area on their lawns. Areas to improve: 1. Food options in restaurant menu was limited. Food tasted okay otherwise. 2. Breakfast had limited items and tasted average. 3. The restaurant gets extremely sunny in the morning which can sometimes be a nuisance. They need to install some sort of shade there. 4. The lawn area even if it looks great is filled with cut grass leftover which gets stuck to your chappals if you take a walk over it. 5. The staff communication has to be improved in terms of proactiveness like properly explaining the services that they have and such. For example, we actually had to call them to ask about wifi password, and few other things like that. 6. We came to know that there maybe bisons/gaur roaming around frequently in that road after we actually met one while we were returning to the hotel in car. While they looked harmless and were minding their own business, a word a caution would have been nice from the hotel staff so that we were not taken by surprise and would know the dos and donts if we come across one.

We had a wonderful stay in mountain retreat its a nice place to relax and have peaceful time with family .. the staff was really great especially dhivya who made a delicious homemade cake for us .. we will definitely come back soon
