a fantastic place. the architecture is phenomenal and the decor is done in very good taste. the hotel is difficult to describe and the first views are out of this world. i have not seen a better designed hotel with such tasteful decor. the breakfast experience was quite a disaster as the restaurant staff from the manager down are quite complacent, and except for the early birds it is a long wait for breakfast. the local dishes were nice, but again orders got mixed up because of no supervision. an ideal place to relax and unwind if you can afford it. the spa is also quite disorganised.

It's peaceful like heaven. Be prepared only to relax and don't plan to day trip because it's a bit far from most places of interest in Shillong. Keep it for last few days of trip.

Unfortunately, my experience was far from seamless and did not reflect the standard one would expect from such an expensive establishment. Breathtaking views, Excellent hospitality, Courteous staff, Delicious food, in brief overall one of the best properties I have stayed in. I went with my Father and stayed there for five days, 29th June to 4th July. The hotel staff from housekeeping, room service to reception were extremely courteous and caring. The rooms are very big, it has and amazing balcony, simply exceptional. Its is situated in amazing greenery. The food is very good and the staff behavior is commendable. You can sit in the balcony and find peace watching the splendid beauty of the umain lake.
