If you are intersted in living in the lap of nature and eating only home cooked fresh food, this is the write place for you. The best thing about the cottage is its host. Mr. Subish. He is a lively & courteus person and will try to help you out with travel issues as much it is possible for him. The experience of living was an event one might remember for a time.

Apart from having a great stay, we got to learn a lot from Subish. A must stay place for anyone who loves forest, perfect example to how to co-exist with nature, a proper eco-stay. Special mention, do not miss the coffee and tea they serve.

Manson Retreat is Homestay and the huts are good. It is actually for the people who love nature. We won't get any amenities like TV and other entertainment. But staying in Monsoon Retreat was different experience. You will enjoy the stay. But you should have vehicle to reach the place. Its little far from the nearby town. I recommend if you have small kids it difficult to handle, so think twice before booking.

The stay was amazing, its a tree cottage in the middle of spice plantation. Monsoon retreat is a family run hotel and the host was very cooperative and polite. They serve delicious homemade food but the cost is on a higher side. The location is bit difficult to find and is away from the town bit if u hav ur own cab than it is not an issue. Overall a pleasant stay, highly recommended.

The stay was not as expected.. The staff was cooperative. Didn't like breakfast. The price per night is overpriced. Looks good but not that much. Would not stay again. The approach towards to eco stay was difficult and bit scary at night as family. We feel it's overpriced per night. not comfortable too.

Firstly its NOT a Hotel but and EXCELLENT HOMESTAY. A Must visit place for nature and forest lovers and these seeking to just soak into the wilderness and cut off from the city life. The place has been tastefully made with lots of diverse plantation and greenery and one can miss the sound of a variety of birds. The Rooms and the Amenities are fairly basic in nature however they meet the primary requirements of a comfortable stay. Mine was a Honeymoon trip and my wife was initially a bit surprised by the level of amenities being basic and not luxurious, however the stay at Monsoon Retreat became one of the most memorable and delightful experience of our Kerala trip. Subish the owner of the property is a wonderful and helpful person. His love for wilderness, nature are clearly visible when one interacts with him. He personally watches over the operations of the property and takes utmost care to ensure that the guests are comfortable and happy. The approach road to the property is a bit narrow and there are no boards or banners leading to the property hence we depended on Google maps to guide is. The google map led us to around 200 metres before the property and a local resident guided us to the property. Since its a Homestay and they aim to minimize wastage they cook dinner and breakfast on order placed before the defined cutoff timings. All in all its a must visit place for people who like nature and wilderness. I shall visit again during my next visit to Thekaddy for sure.

We stayed here for an evening. There are 5 or 6 tree cottages inside an estate of about 2 acres i guess. Its constructed in such a way that no spice crops there are affected because of the cottages. The owner Subish is a good jovial person and tries to accommodate the guests requirements. I was not able to try their breakfast, hence not rating the food & drinks. The cottages are well maintained & situated close to the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary(5-6 Kms),Elephant Junction(.5-1 KM) etc.Their support staff there are also very good.So full marks on the service quality, cleanliness & location aspects. However, they do not have a proper heater/geyser setup(Available heater works occasionally) there and we had to bath in the Ice cold water in the evenings and early mornings. Also, the window curtains are very transparent making the inside of room visible from outside at night. Window curtains should be more thick in material. I told the owner(subish) about above issues and he has assured me that these things would be taken care off. They are ready to listen to your complaints and resolve it.Subish actually allowed us to check in early, than making us wait till the actual checking time Also,no TV,AC present in the cottages. Its just a neat double bed, tales and couple of desks in each cottage room. But these are not required as per me as the lack of these allows people to spend quality time with each other & also get to more close to nature.

Location: Monsoon Retreats is located about 3.5 kilometres from Kumily Town. The nearby landmark is Elephant Junction Thekkady and Green Park, a spice plantation. Property: The property comprises of 5 cottages. This is a ecostay and Subish is the man behind the idea. It has a minimal impact design. Remember this is not a hotel or even a typical home stay. Amenities: Towels are included, while one has to get their own toiletries like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, toilet paper. Though water heater is provided one has to request the keepers to turn it on when required. The heater is outside the cottage. The water wasn't warm enough and we almost had a cold water bath. Wifi is available. Food: The food is homely and went down well with my sensitivities. USP: The place promises to give one close encounters with a variety of birds right from your cottage. It is calm, quiet and restful.

Amazing feel; felt so close to nature. The owner Subeesh is a great chap and has tremendous exposure to eco tourism. He helped me with all the best options around thekkady like the bamboo rafting & Jungle trek. The location is a bit interior but that is worth as its complete off the town and I'll feel almost inside a beautiful forest.. Overall a great place for all types of travellers..
