Taj Palace House Boat 2

big and clean room, good interiors.. its near ghat 15, so u get a beautiful view of the dal lake and mountains.. Apart from the room nothing was good.. service was pathetic..we only included breakfast while booking.. so tried to order ala carte for dinner..but were denied dinner despite requesting many times..they said they already had a lot of work to do so get it from market..we asked to atleast provide 4-5 fresh chapatis around 9-10pm but were denied that too..we took shikara by 8, went to the market, got the food packed, booked shikara again.. shikara closes by 8:30-9pm..and had to eat thandi chapatis. for breakfast we asked for 4 paranthas..the attendant said u can have total 2 paranthas for 2ppl..we said do 2paranthas and 2omlette toast..he said either u can have 2 paranthas or 2 omlette toast or poha despite breakfast included in the package..attendant said he is following the order of owner..we took the number of owner and talked to him..and he sorted things quickly.. also checkout time was 12:00pm.. attendant called us at 11:00 to vacate the room coz other guests had come.. though we did not vacate..

I had planned a 2 day drip to Srinagar which due to landslide got changed. The owner, Mr. Umar was a kind person and he agreed to to make the adjustment in date without any charges, though we did not get the room in house boat but thats ok. HouseBoat, I feel this is a overrated experience. One can enjoy Dal lake in a shikara ride and there is no need to book a house boat for the same. It was cold and no the room was little stinky, I was not comfortable staying there. These room are petty old fashioned and lacks maintenance. Other thing is if you stay in houseboat, you need to call owner to drop you till the land using his boat, which is agin a little inconvienient. More then worth. Rooms are spacious and nice, mr Umar owner of this is actually not a greedy person so give best advice for everything around. But staff and every other Kashmiri whom so ever u will meet around will try to loot you by making you fool or by begging because tourism is their only earning source. Thanx to Umar who arranged everything for me before I reach there like cab for 3 days local sim card without taking a single extra penny and made changes in my booking days as I changed my mood to stay one day in Gulmarg. Wifi, hot bedding clean washrooms like a 4 star hotel

Stay was not at all satisfactory as the room & the bathroom were too dirty, I even saw a rat in the room but even then there were many positive stuffs as well like the fare is very reasonable & even the staffs were very well behaved, even the owner was very sweet & polite & I loved their food as well but still I would suggest them to work on the cleanliness as it's not hygienic to stay in such an environment.
