The Wildernest, Thekkady

I had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at a lil over ...on goibibo for our stay from 19th-21st May. This place is just 7mins by rick (@Rs30) from the kumily bus stand. The location is very convenient & centrally located close to the main bazar. The ambience is just perfect - Its a quaint lil place maybe just 8-10rooms. The rooms are so tidy & cozy; i absolutely loved every bit of it. They do up the room daily & there's this peculiar fragrance of lemon grass oil with which they clean the floors. I liked the fact they kept an umbrella handy near the entrance of our door (since there were occassional showers). Breakfast was very basic though - a glass of juice, fruits, cornflakes with milk, toasted slice bread, peanut butter, jam, butter, plain croissant, egg (however you prefer - omlette, scrambled, etc.) & tea/coffee. Wifi was available & there was 24hrs hot water. The staff was very warm & welcoming. The moment we checked in they gave a brief of everything. They also advised us on all the possible things we could do in Thekkady & showed us pamphlets for the same (however i felt these were on a slightly higher side; you can bargain for a good deal directly with any of the jeep drivers). We had an awesome stay at Wildernest & definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Thekkady.

Hotel is situated very close to Periyar lake on the main road where we go for boat cruise, Small property only 8 rooms. Very neat and clean rooms with small balcony. The place is having plenty of mosquitoes outside but no need to worry we didn't even spot a single mosquito inside the room. The staff is also very helpful and courteous. The review book kept of reception is quite attractive and fond reading and writing a review very interesting. Books and Magazines are also available and reception and can be taken to room. Very stylish and attractive eating area. They serve good american breakfast.

Its a nice place to stay in Thekkady as its near to Thekkady Cultural Centre,good restaurants,shopping area and the most important Periyar Tiger reserve.The rooms are very very spacious,neat,clean and looks exactly same as shown in the pictures online.It has a small but very cute cafe where you can have good coffee and cake,complimentary breakfast is also served here.People from all the age groups can comfortably stay here.Hotel staff is also very nice and polite.All in all we had a good stay here and thanks to the hotel staff and management for that.

Property is extremely clean and well maintained. Great value for money. Good service. Food not available in the property, we had food from a restaurant the property suggested, Thekkady Cafe and it wasn't that great. There are other restaurants around the vicinity which serves really good food. There is a cafe nearby called SORA which serves some good cafe food. Near to the tourist locations. The rooms are huge and our room had a balcony and we loved it.
