The worst hostel experience ever - never felt more unwelcome and humiliated.I duly checked out and vacated my dorm bed by 11am (they would convince me checkout time is 10am, even though Goibibo says 11). I then had hoped to sit in the common area outside on a desk and chair for a few hours, working on my laptop against a power point (something one takes to be basic courtesy - have travelled to over 50 countries and stayed in hostels around the globe, so I only go by what is standard practice.. this isn't me acting entitled) and chatting with a couple of people staying before catching the late evening bus back to Delhi.Within some time after checkout, I was told to leave since some 4 new people were expected to come and they had apparently "reserved" the whole dormitory premises (common area included). This is after over 15 hours of heavy rains and while it was still drizzling outside - basically telling me to go suffer the rains but that I was unwelcome here. I found it funny but decided to step out for lunch while requesting to keep my rucksack with them.I came back a good 4 hours later - no other guests had arrived... meaning it was clearly a lie to shoo me away. There were only 2 other guests from the previous day whom I had become friendly with and was enjoying chatting with (the community experience is why I as a single traveller look forward to hostels in the first place). But then the caretaker, even while I was there, called one of the lady guests enquiring about me whether I had left. She was weirded out herself and handed the phone to me; I lost it at this point - told them what were they playing at, lying to me and playing underhanded tricks to get me to leave? I took it to be ignorance on part of the caretaker and called the owner, saying all I ask for is to sit and chat at the outside common area until I catch my late evening bus. He said that should be fine and that he'll communicate that to the caretaker. An hour later, the owner and caretaker together came to summon me and asked me to vacate immediately - saying there is no such thing as a common area on their property, and that I need to be out of their premises completely after checkout time. What hurts is that I really was appreciative of the hospitality during the stay - the caretaker seemed smiling, jovial and the hospitality was genuinely nice up until checkout time (of course, slyly also solicited a good review in exchange). But the moment check-out time struck, their stance turned a full 180 deg and I was treated like vermin, and made to feel grossly unwelcome.Their policy is not clear, else they would not have felt the need to lie to me. I didn't even threaten them with a bad review, and yet they said I could go write whatever I wanted to write. And all this with no civility on display - so just be warned, all niceties and smiles are fake. After checkout time, you can't even take shelter in their premises... IN THE RAIN!Fun fact: The lady guest staying at the same time as me had earlier been offered, when she couldn't find a reservation at this hostel, to spend the full day here and return to her other hostel for the night time! Go figure! When you change policies by the minute as you please, and make exceptions for the ladies - so your hostel looks "inviting" and "safe" through optics because of ladies being present.Anyway, that'd be all for this worthless place. I will "Wake up in Doon" anywhere but here for any forthcoming visits. My singularly WORST hostel experience among ALL the hostels I have ever stayed in (and I must have stayed in a few hundred) - for the simple reason that: a) I was robbed of the community experience, b) I was denied basic courtesy of taking shelter in the rain, and c) Was subjected to utter, uncalled for humiliation.
Run by people who give smiles and pleasantries up until check out time (while shrewdly soliciting a good review) - and then make every attempt to shoo you out of the property immediately after check out. Duly vacated my dorm bed by checkout time of 11am (was firstly to saying checkout time is 10 - when it clearly says 11 on this site). Then I just wanted to sit in the outside common area, working on my laptop in a corner and chatting with the couple of guests staying who I had become friendly with (the whole point of choosing to stay in a community hostel as a single traveller!), while I waited to catch my late evening bus back to Delhi. Moreover it had rained for 15+hrs and it was still drizzling that morning - even then I was to, while being told there is no such thing as a common area in their property, and when they literally threw me out that evening. Never felt more humiliated in my life. worthless place - recommend to stay far far away running a disgusting establishment who will deny you even shelter in the rain. Oh, correction - not if you are a lady... A lady guest staying at the same time as me had been offered, when she couldn't find a reservation on her chosen dates, to spend the entire day at this hostel before going to her place of choice for the night. Having hanging around by day looks good, inviting and safe to people from the outside, right?! Couldn't be more wrong - the whole vibe is actually super creepy, and through and through.
Clean propery, noise free, most of the things are maintained well. Owner and caretaker both are very supportive and always ready to help you. All in all a great place to stay.
Clean, calm, safe place , such a helpful people . It's new property. Owner and care taker both are very very helfpul people. Enjoyed staying there...will come back again.
