Club Mahindra Mahabaleshwar Sherwood

This is one of the resorts managed by Club Mahindra in a serene location in Mahabaleshwar. The property largely seems heritage whereas certain sections are contemporary. The rooms allotted in this case was pretty much average and so were the facilities within the room. The upkeep and maintenance of the rooms allotted were below average. TV USB damaged, remote non responsive, damaged drawers, hot water takes ages to come, dryer was damaged etc. An area which requires a lot of improvement. The restaurant and pools were good whereas buffet meals had a decent spread. But food items served for lunch were repeated for dinner. Being located in a dense forest area there is the issue of all types of small flies which can get irritating while having meals. Meals though are over priced by atleast 15% if one were to compare with other four and five star hotels or resorts. Play area for kids is decently sized and maintained. So are some of the other facilities. A Segway was operational and the person operating the same was kind enough to allow testing of the same for a reasonable fee per person. The overall experience was good except for the rooms which was a dampener.

The hotel is situated away from the main area which is a good thing as its away from the noise and chaos. The rooms are of good size. The breakfast was very good. But unfortunately I had a bad incident of misplacing the key of the room which mysteriously vanished after I left the room and at the same time a hotel staff was present there to take my bags. Since I couldn't give the key back the front desk asked me to pay 1000.00 extra for the key and weren't allowing me to leave and trying to be very stern with me. I was no mood of paying as I had left the key in the room itself and after wasting 1.30 hrs of mine they were like it's ok you can go. I still did not understand as they found the key or what happened. It felt like the staff was trying to cheat me off to make an extra buck. Still it's a mystery for me where did the key disappear.

During my stay here at the hotel I had lost my room key for which they had asked me to submit them a amount of 2000 rupees, which I had done as a security deposit and then I went finding the key after 2 hrs finally I ended up finding the key as the amount they are charging is too high. I mean 2000 rupees for a normal key where as it should be around 200 rupees at maximum 500. The breakfast was complimentary and tasted good , quite fine for my taste. The location of the hotel is around 4-5 KM. from the main temple here and this hotel is only suitable for those who are using there own travel because in the evening their is no connectivity from the hotel to the city as in no transportation facility is available so hotel is only recommended when you have your own vehicle.

location-good staff : good food quality : good swimming pool is not functional and was not mentioned/indicated anywhere while booking wifi is not available in hotel rooms and only in hotel lobby which is also not mentioned anywhere while booking restaurant size is too small considering the number of guests. Expect half an hour waiting for breakfast and meals the hotel room was clean but the furniture is quite old and not up to the mark. I paid almost 14k for one night which I felt completed worthless for this hotel
