Hotel O Demadzong

well we stayed in this hotel in May 2017. please find the pros and cons:- Pros:- 1) The hotel is located very close to Shanti view point , Rumtek which provides a good view of Gangtok, Mountains etc. 2) This place is very well disconnected from the noisy town of gangtok, so anybody who wants a peaceful and quiet natural atmosphere can book this hotel. Cons:- 1) very far from Gangtok 24 kms to be exact from gangtok MG road so be ready to travel for 2 hours extra to reach any sightseeing place or even a good restaurant. 2) no proper Hotel staff to cater to your needs such as food water etc. you would have to wait for 1 hour to get breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also book ur dinner well in advance or else sleep hungry. 3) a family of four runs the entire hotel, they are the receptionist, cook, housekeeping, waiter etc..... no professionalism, this is a just a BIG HOMESTAY and not a Hotel. 4) no basic facilities available close by, roads to Hotel under construction so the ride is bumpy. My advise is please do not book this hotel as this a HOMESTAY located very far from Gangtok. Everyday you would have to travel for an extra 4 hours(to and fro) and waste your precious time in the process. Also this would make you tired. please book and hotel in Gangtok close to MG road.

The hotel's location affords great views. The food is really good. What ruins the experience is the awful customer service. They're simply too short-staffed to cater properly to their guests. From simple things like paper napkins and a glass of water in the restaurant to more complex things like helping with taxi services or guidance for visiting tourist spots - it's a struggle to get satisfactory service in any of these departments. The staff are well-meaning and try their best. But given the number of bookings they accept, the limited resources in the relatively remote location, and the seeming lack of training in hospitality services- it's no surprise that a visit to the hotel leaves a lot to be desired

The Hotel is just opposite to Shanti View Point but little far from MG Road from where you board to various places in Gangtok though Roomtek Monestry is near to it The Owner is very cooperative and helpful and the staff was very nice and tried their best though not professional. Food was good but it can get better. Quite a good choice of Drinks.

If you are looking for serenity and peace, looking for some space in the lap of nature, this hotel is the right place for you. Location of the hotel is just opposite to gangtok. You can view whole gangtok from the balcony of this hotel. Hotel staff is more courteous and foods are the delicacy served on your request. Worth a visit. lovely..
