  • Chamatkar Temple

Chamatkar Temple is one of the most famous Jain Temples in Sawai Madhopur. It has been named so because of a number of fascinating Chamatkar (miracles) that led to its foundation. As per the legend, it is said that a farmer had found a God’s idol in his land, after he dug up a particular place in the field after being directed by God in his dreams. The idol found by the farmer was handed over to the Jain Digambaras. Interestingly, the legend doesn’t end here as the same farmer was again told by God in his dreams to put the idol in a chariot, leave it to see where the horse refuses to go further and make that place the site of the temple. It is believed that the chariot stopped at the same place in Sawai Madhopur where the Chamatkar Temple stands today.
