The festival begins with the Wodeyar royal couple performing a special puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari in the Chamundi Temple, which is one of the major tourist attractions in Mysore and an eminent pilgrimage, followed by a royal assembly and thereby on the ninth day of Dasara, the procession takes place involving elephants, horses and camels.
